Just after Mars rover Curiosity touched down, it sent home a selfie worthy of Instagram. But what if it was actually using Instagram? Nikos Kantarakias figured he might as well find out what that’d look like.
Since Curiosity’s many, many photos are out there on the web, all Kantarakias had to do was grab a few good ones, suck ’em up on his phone, and run them through Instagram and Hipstimatic, applying some vintage filters to those stark shots of a barren Martian landscape along the way. Say what you will about filters, the results are pretty neat, if not exactly accurate.
