Do You Love Apple’s (Stolen) Clock Design? Then Strap One To Your Wrist

Apple ran into a bit of trouble when it was discovered that the company’s design for the clock on the iPad version of iOS 6 was pretty much ripped off from the Swiss Federal Railway. Apple ended up having to pay $US21 million for the gaffe, but you can get your own copy of Hans Hilfiker’s original design with Mondaine’s Stop2Go watch for a slightly more reasonable $US580.

Not only does the watch’s design match the clocks used at Swiss railway stations, it also functions in much the same way. The sweeping red second hand makes a full rotation in 58 seconds, and then pauses at the 12 o’clock mark for two seconds so that the minute hand can advance first. The technique apparently ensured that Swiss trains always departed on time on the exact minute, but for you, it will probably be more of a conversation starter. [Dezeen Watch Store]
