Verified Facebook Accounts Are A Thing Now

Not sure if the famous person you’re writing to is really them? Don’t worry, it won’t happen for much longer: Facebook is rolling out Verified Accounts to famous folks over the next little while.

No word yet on just how Facebook is verifying folk, but only a select few will get it:

Verified Pages belong to a small group of prominent public figures (celebrities, journalists, government officials, popular brands and businesses) with large audiences. This update is rolling out to profiles as well.

An account on Facebook is Verified if the person has a little blue checkmark next to their name on the Timeline page. Looks like Selina Gomez is definitely getting one. [Facebook]
