Nokia Is Trying To Tempt Sir Alex Ferguson Into A Lumia 920

Whether you’re a sports fan or not, you have probably heard the name Sir Alex Ferguson this morning. He’s the outgoing manager of the Manchester United football team in the UK — a job he’s been doing since 1986. To put that in perspective: Sir Fergie has been doing that job since before I was born. Meanwhile, Nokia has spied an opportunity in Sir Alex’s retirement, and is offering him a special edition Lumia 920 for his time at the club in the hopes that he’ll switch.

During his time at the helm, Sir Alex steered Manchester United into a record-breaking winning streak, picking up (among other accolades) 13 Premier League titles, five FA Cups and two UEFA Champions League titles.

Nokia had a bright, red Lumia 920 made up to resemble the colours of the team Ferguson managed for all that time, complete with an engraving celebrating his time there.

Carved into the Lumia’s polycarbonate chassis are these words:

Sir Alex Chapman Ferguson

Manchester United Manager

1986 — 2013

Good Luck, Sir Alex

Sir Alex doesn’t use a Windows Phone right now, but Nokia hopes that this one-of-a-kind Lumia will convince him to switch.

“So Sir Alex, how about it, want to #Switch to a custom Lumia 920?” says Nokia in its blog post.

Not a bad parting gift, to be honest, but I’m not sure Sir Alex is going to go for this one, guys. [Nokia]
