Kogan Outs Android 4.2 3D TV For Under $500

Cut-price technology vendor Kogan has just announced a 42-inch Agora Smart 3D LED TV running on the latest version of Android for an introductory “pre-sale” price of $449. Here’s a peek at the specs.

If you’re keen to jump on the Google TV bandwagon but refuse to stump up the cash, Kogan’s latest 3D LED TV could be worth a look. The Kogan Agora Smart 3D LED TV boasts a 42-inch Full HD (1080p) LED panel with a brightness rating of 350cd/m² and a response time of eight millisecond (8sms).

But its main claim to fame is its Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) operating system which Kogan is billing as the world’s first on a 3D TV.

    Other product highlights include:

  • Built-in PVR functionality
  • 3D ready (includes two 3D glasses)
  • Wi-Fi connectivity
  • 3x USB Ports (including one USB 3.0 port)
  • 3x HDMI Ports
  • 60Hz refresh rate
  • Supported USB Media Types: MKV, MP4, H.264, MPEG2, MPEG4, JPEG, PNG, BMP, MP3, WMA, MPG

The TV measures 958x52x566mm, which is around ten times thicker than the latest flagship LED TV from Samsung. Mind you, that TV will also set you back $10,000.

On the downside, you can’t check the quality of the TV in person prior to buying because Kogan is an online-only store. At this price though, it would have to be a real stinker not to be worth the money.

The Kogan Agora Smart 3D LED TV is available to pre-order now and will ship on 25 July.
