Rumour: Nokia Is Planning A Galaxy Note Rival

The Financial Times is reporting that Nokia is, unfathomably, working on a large-screened smartphone that will rival the Samsung’s Galaxy Note series in size. Sources have told the FT that the new large phone will form part of Nokia’s Lumia range.

Also to join that range, according to the sources, is a a lighter “more advanced” Lumia, codenamed “Catwalk”. There are, sadly, no further details to be had. What we can say is that the latter sounds promising; the former sounds like a disappointment waiting to happen.

Rumours swirled earlier this year suggesting that Nokia is to release a full-on PureView camera in the coming months. If both sets of rumours are to be believed, they suggest that Nokia is pushing hard to radically revamp its smartphone offering — even if that does mean including a phone for people with giant hands. It will be interesting to see if that turns out to be the case. [Financial Times]
