Rumour: Is Acer’s 8-Inch Iconia W3 The First Small Windows 8 Tablet?

Microsoft has mentioned that we’ll see smaller and cheaper Windows 8 machines. And that might, maybe, possibly be about to be made true by Acer — with leaked images showing something smaller and running Windows 8.

The device, which tech site Minimachines says is called the Iconia W3, is an eight-incher, supposedly powered by a 1.8GHz dual-core Atom Z2760 processor, alongside 2GB of RAM and dual cameras for a variety of video-based fun. The leaked photos also show it sitting atop an accompanying keyboard attachment, so people can pretend they’re using it for proper work rather than staring at Twitter 19 hours a day.

The rumour has been granted a little extra gravity by Acer asking the original source to remove the images. But, uh, here is one anyway. If it is a real device, it will be interesting to see how well a smaller Windows slate sells. Also, it looks a bit like an overgrown iPhone 3, don’t you think? [Minimachines via Techradar]
