Nokia Lumia 520 Gets Australian Price, Release Date

Just in case you thought there weren't enough Lumias on the market, the Lumia 520 is about to be released. The good news is that it's cheap and cheerful. Here's the price and where you can get it.

The Lumia 520 is a 4-inch Windows Phone 8 device with an 800x480 pixel screen, a 1GHz dual-core processor, 512MB RAM, 5-megapixel camera and features the HERE navigation suite of apps.

You'll be able to pick up the Lumia 520 without a network lock from Allphones, Dick Smith, Harvey Norman and JB Hi-Fi for $229, or you can get a Telstra-locked device from Telstra Shops and resellers for $179.

You'll be able to pick one up for yourself on April 30.

Looks like a promo for the phone at HN $176

Aren't many differences between this and the 620. So comes down to personal preference I think.
    - 620 is $20 more.
    - 520 is slightly bigger, thinner, weighs less, slightly bigger screen, only talking millimetre's here though
    - 620 has a flash and secondary camera
    - 620 has NFC
    - 620 has Snapdragon S4, 520 has Qualcomm MSM8227
    - 520 has slightly larger battery

The 620 is worthwhile to grab at only $20 more barely. Problem is it looks uglier being rounded, whereas this 520 is more akin to the 720 & 920 in design, looking a lot nicer.

This actually looks like a fatter, plainer HTC 8S. Amazing price.

I was thinking of going on a plan for the Nokia Lumia 920 via Telstra, but I can't be bothered paying $66 a month for 24 months. So might as well buy The 520 or the 620, but I agree with @ivandude - it looks UGLY! - might get the 520.

720 will be better, wait around a week or two its $350 outright price online atm, hitting stores soon. It's very similiar to the 920 (looks/size) but be mindful no 4G or great camera, works out to be great for battery usage going back to the time of phones lasting a full week on light usage (or Giz reports 3 days of heavy use)

The only problem is the 520 does not have the clear black screen which actually makes the colors more vibrant, plus 620 has the sunlight visibility option and the flash but the design of the 520 looks better. But I wonder if the screen is going to be washed out like the 8S the 8S screen looks very washed out.
