This bucolic Japanese bathroom is a temporary installation at Tokyo’s House Vision Expo. There should be no question as to whether you’d pee in it. As long as you don’t defile the bushes, that would be the best bathroom experience of your life.
Designed by landscape artist Makoto Azuma and Naruse-Inokuma Architects, the room has fixtures that were provided by TOTO. With clear glass floors, green leafy walls and clean white fixtures, the space borders on surreal — you don’t really know where the garden ends and the bathroom begins. But the sheer idea of it formalises what we’ve all done in nature anyway. Even though it’s a room meant for relieving yourself, it’s simply lovely.
