Sony Hedges Its Big Screen Bets With 4.6-Inch Xperia SP

For those who find the 5-inch Xperia Z a bit too much of a handful, there’s this: the Sony Xperia SP. It’s a similar-looking thing with a slightly smaller 720p resolution display and a decent 1.7GHz Qualcomm MSM8960 processor doing all the work.

The Xperia SP is fairly reminiscent of the Xperia Z’s industrial design, with the same chunky metallic power button, dedicated camera shutter and machined aluminium construction, plus there’s NFC support and an LTE radio in here for connecting to the UK’s emerging 4G networks.

You also get an eight-megapixel camera, 2370mAh capacity battery, 8GB of onboard storage space and an SD card slot for whacking in your own memory upgrades. It’s more than capable, and Sony says it will arrive some time during Q2 of this year.
