Lost Underwater Camera Reunited With Its Owner After Six Years

Back in 2007, Lindy Scallan went to Hawaii for a vacation and took her camera along. After putting the camera in its underwater housing, she went scuba diving but unfortunately lost her camera. Thinking it was gone forever, the camera was incredibly found thousands of mile away in Taiwan six years later. The pictures she took from that 2007 vacation are still on the camera.

The camera was discovered by a China Airlines employee in Taiwan who contacted Hawaii News Now to help find the camera’s owner. The story went viral and Scallan’s friends found it and forwarded her the link. Scallan said:

“I just was floored that it was my camera and it was all my old pictures and it was amazing. I just couldn’t believe it had floated so far, so long ago and the memory card was still intact”

China Airlines had offered to fly Scallan out to Taiwan for free to retrieve the camera but she unfortunately had to decline because she just started a new job. Fret not though, if the camera survived six years and thousands of miles in the ocean then it could wait a couple more days to be reunited with its owner.
