Talk about the post-PC area all you like, but some good old-fashion stationary PCs can be pretty damn cool in their own right. This slick, fanless HTPC put together by Jeffrey Stephenson is a perfect example.
Starting with a mahogany shell was a good start, but that’s far from the box’s only virtue. It’s also got a seriously impressive Silverstone HE02 heat sink at its centre that supports its Intel Core i3-3225 CPU, 8GB RAM, and other innards. And as a finally decorative touch, the centre even has subtle lighting effects that makes the whole thing look uncannily like a heater. Sure, you can’t pick it up and take it into the bathroom with you, but it looks a hell of a lot cooling a shelf than any tablet ever will. [Jeffery Stephenson via Fanless Tech]
