What 200 Calories Actually Looks Like In Different Foods

One of the best things to do if you’re watching your weight is to just be careful of portion sizes. Eating a whole bag of Doritos? Not good for you. Eating a small handful? Less worse! Something even better to do is to eat more low calorie foods and less calorie dense items. Less bang for your buck can actually be good! Here’s what 200 calories looks like in food.

The project, which was done by Wise Geek, shows 200 calories of food because it was something “tangible”. 100 calories would have been too little for dense items and 500 calories would’ve been comically ginormous for low calorie foods. To be fair, there are other things that go into food other than calories but for the purpose of the exercise, it’s pretty eye opening to see half a Snickers bar equal to three eggs and so forth.

For perspective, the plate is 10.25 inches (26cm) in diameter and the bowl is 6.25 inches (16cm) in diameter

That’s a whole lot of broccoli.

I gotta eat more carrots

I never liked Snickers anyway.

How many apples is this?

Dammit, I love bagels.
