Sonos continues its righteous quest to dominate every room in your house with easy, awesome wireless music with its new Playbar. The soundbar joins the Sonos subwoofer introduced last year as well as two standalone tabletop systems already available.
The Playbar has nine drivers inside, including three tweeters and six mid-range drivers. It plugs directly into your TV with a digital optical cable, and integrates seamlessly with the wireless Sonos music system. And this thing is clearly designed to integrate with the existing Sonos sub — notice that it doesn’t have any built-in subwoofer or passive radiator.
The Playbar will be available next month for $US700, and it’s available for pre-order now. [Sonos]

Do there other speakers sound good? I've never heard of the brand. I was thinking of parting with a small fortune for a BOSE sound bar. Only because a friend has one and it sounds great, that and I'm to lazy to cut into the wall to run cables for my living room.

Looking on there website they dont give any performance specs for me that's usually its not that good so they dont want to say.
It's not for the audiophile. It's more about convenience, ease of use, good access to all sorts of music services, and streamlined control of said music throughout the house (or elsewhere).
Personally I like the spotify plays directly through sonos.
The play 3/5 are quite decent for their size and sonos is actually reliable unlike AirPlay.
Technically you can use any speakers with the sonos player.
There are different products. There is an amp, which you can use to power speakers directly, or there is a pre-amp which you can run through an existing home theatre setup (for example).
Otherwise there are stand alone products with built in speakers.
I haven't heard any complaints about them. I've installed a few.
Dunno about the soundbar yet - its new.
That was @rhys
I don't think the reply button worked.
