Ordering a Kindle Paperwhite from Amazon has been a fairly dicey process in the last few weeks. People trying to get the device shipped from the US weren’t able to get their address through the overlords of Amazon, meaning that not everyone who wanted one could get it. Good news for everyone today, though, as Dick Smith pledges to stock the Paperwhite from next week.
You can pre-order the Paperwhite right now from Dick Smith online for $149. That works out around the same price, if not cheaper, than Amazon’s price plus shipping.
Dick Smith, however, only seem to be stocking the Wi-Fi version of the Paperwhite rather than the 3G-enabled model.
Props to Jenneth Oranthia for spotting this!

Wonder if it will be more expensive after the pre-order period finishes? Pretty good value at this price... Colour me surprised!
I think this'll be worth it given the specs and the price.
Anonymous Dick Smith employee here. Rumours floating around we might be getting the 3G model, just not straight away.
Sold! I'll wait the 3G version then (if it arrives). Any word on the official Kindle Paperwhite cases to match?
Awesome! i'll def look at the wifi version. Never understood why peopel get 3G versions of kindles when nearly everyone has wifi hotspot on their phones these days. how often are you on the net on your kindle anyway.
It's about getting the books pushed to your Kindle without having to worry about connecting to WiFi or anything like that.
because connecting via wifi is so much harder than connecting via 3g isnt it.
You just turn the 3G on and stuff comes onto it.
No need to turn on the hotspot on my phone or anything, plus on the Kindle there is no data limit or charges.
pity it's only WiFi. i would have definitely picked up a 3G version.
Yet another Dick Smith rip-off.
In spite of all the hype it is a LOT cheaper to buy direct from the US.
