Banking on the whole notion of it not being the size of the gift that counts, physics students at Brigham Young University have created what could be the world’s tiniest cupid, made of carbon nanotubes.
The impossibly small cherub was made by blasting a pattern of tiny iron seeds with a heated gas which causes the nanotubes to grow like a miniature forest. But since the cupid is so small and fragile (its arm is no thicker than a human hair) it can only be appreciated through a microscope because even the smallest breeze — like an appreciative sigh — would destroy it.
