As silly as it may sound, more and more people are reporting about an Apple watch that maybe its time to put away those Dick Tracy jokes (never!). This time, Bloomberg is saying that Apple has “a team of about 100 product designers working on a wristwatch-like device that may perform some of the computing tasks now handled by the iPhone and iPad.”
Bloomberg cites two people familiar with Apple’s plans, which is pretty much only half as vague as one person familiar with Apple’s plans. Bloomberg suggests that the team’s size — which has grown in the past year and includes “managers, members of the marketing group and software and hardware engineers who previously worked on the iPhone and iPad” — might mean that Apple is no longer just experimenting with the watch. That it could be something more than that.
But still no timeline has been cited, so this could be years before we see anything. [Bloomberg]
