BlackBerry’s Q10 Might Not Arrive Until May — At The Earliest

The phone that could unexpectedly become BlackBerry’s saviour, the Q10, won’t hit US shores until May at the earliest, according to CEO Thorsten Heins. This could mean a delay for Australia as well.

Speaking to AP, Heins explained that the new keyboard-equipped phone will end up shipping in the US eight to 10 weeks after its touchscreen sibling, the Z10. Currently, the Z10 is due to arrive some time in March, which means the Q10 might not arrive until late May, or even June. Heins explained:

“Am I a bit disappointed [by the delay]… Yeah, I would be lying saying no. But it is what it is, and we’re working with all our carrier partners to speed it up as much as we can.”

It’s a real blow for BlackBerry. As we’ve explained before, the Q10 could fill a niche that helps the company escape its downwards spiral — but long delays could damage that advantage before Heins and co even have chance to seize it. Considering that our release timeline closely follows that of the US, be prepared for a longer wait. [AP via All Things D]
