How annoyingly-difficult-for-basic-tasks is windows 8 programming!
Eh, I've been .Net programming for years, so it's not too hard to do the metro apps. And the boilerplate they have on the directX apps does the trick of shunting a render into a xaml app. Come on man, what do you think this is, a bash shell! :p

Yea. I do know what you mean through about the trivial things -- they're really pushing the MVC approach, which is awesome when you just want to print out a static shopping list, or something else as basic
