This NSFW Video Is Everything That’s Wrong With Silicon Valley

What you’re about to watch is a real video advertisement created by a real venture capital fund in Silicon Valley, ostensibly a real place in the United States. If you didn’t hate the startup world before, you’ll now instantly die.

According to TechCrunch, Runa Capital is “a $US135M technology-focused venture capital firm” that’s invested in a bunch of crap you’ve never heard of: “Nginx, Talkbits, Jelastic, Metabar, Travelmenu, BigTime® Software, Ecwid, StopTheHacker, Capptain, B2B-Center, Infratel, LinguaLeo, Dnevnik.ru.” Haha, look at all of those made up words. Runa Capital also reflects the awfulness of its environment: that misogyny, work-obsession, obliviousness, cutthroat-ism, alienation, and generally mercenariness are virtues. Virtues that will lead to money. Virtues that will lead to your bad idea for a bad app being acquired by good Facebook.

The only thing more offensive than this video is the tragedy that it’ll likely appeal to a lot of Californian dorks who fancy themselves the next Rich Startup Dork. Silicon Valley is an economic influenza, and this video will sneeze in your face. [TechCrunch]
