Sony just dropped its first 4G phone yesterday here at CES — the Xperia Z — and the company’s head of telco now says that almost all of the handsets Sony will do this year will have 4G. Hurrah!
John Featherstone is a good guy. He’s also the head of Sony’s mobile business in Oceania. We caught up with him at CES 2013 by the frankly incredible Sony booth, where he had this to say:
“Around 80 per cent of our phones for 2013 will be 4G…all of them around the mid- to top-tier devices.
So if there’s a Sony device coming out this year, there’s a good bet that it’s going to be 4G-enabled. Don’t expect and 4G pre-paid devices from Sony this year, though.
Featherstone also told us that the Xperia Z will likely be released on all three major carriers in March.
