Hate Keys? You'll Never Have To Lock This Invisible Secret Door

If you're prone to losing your keys and locking yourself out of the house when you get home, you'll want to pay attention to this brilliant home mod by YouTuber oggfaba. Using hardware and timber you can easily find at any home improvement megalopolis, they created a near-invisible secret door that perfectly blends in with the exterior of their house.

Of course, now that this video has been posted to YouTube, the door isn't exactly secret any more. So oggfaba integrated a remote-controlled deadbolt to keep it secure. But if you do as brilliant a job when you build your own, there's really no reason to lock it as long as no one ever catches you slipping in and out. [YouTube via Wimp]

I want one for my bedroom!

Awesome! Except.. isn't a little remote control button doodad precisely as loseable (it's a word, look it up!) or forgettable as a key? Especially considering you'd probably attach it to your keyring?

^for those above, clearly you guys do not read,

That being said, it really clever, though not sure about peace of mind to be honest.

you lock you car with a remote I'm guessing and don't feel the need to deadbolt that - and if a thief wants your stuff, there's always a window anyway.

      I think it's great.

If you need a remote for it though, you'd be better off just installing a keypad on your front door rather than going to all that trouble. Isn't it supposed to be about still having access in case you forget your keys?

Agree on the peace of mind bit.

Did you guys watch the whole video? The door also features a keypad to unlock. Lift the flap, punch in your pin and in you go.
