Check Out Jabra’s Sweet-Sounding Multitouch Headphones

Jabra has announced a new line of headphones that make a solid case for leaving your phone in your pocket. The bluetooth Jabra Revo Wireless headphones let you control your music with just a tap to the ear.

Compact and solid, the Jabra Revos are, of course, headphones, and good ones at that. But that’s not where they really shine; the Revos come in both wired and bluetooth flavours, and it’s the bluetooth model that makes use of a unique control sequence where the user can switch between songs, as well as pause music with swipes or or taps (respectively) on the outside of the cans, and turn up or down the volume, but tracing circles. All with phone in pocket.

There’s a catch though; this functionality is tied to the Jabra’s Sound App, a proprietary media player for both iOS and Android that comes free with a headphone purchase. The app uses Dolby Digital Plus to compliment the sound, but all of the wireless features won’t work outside of that app, so if you’re into your stock player — or something else — you’re out of luck.

The earphone touch control might strike you as something of a gimmick, but it’s definitely a cool one, and even aside from that, the sound quality isn’t lacking. The headphones are due to be released sometime between April and June of this year for an as-yet-to-be-determined price.
