Camera-equipped quadcopters are turning out to be a great way to explore places that humans can’t be, like Stanford’s new concert hall. And there are places that humans shouldn’t be, like on a female moose’ home turf.
This extraordinary footage was captured in Oslo, Norway, by Eirik Solheim using a GoPro camera strapped to the underside of an X468 quadcopter. Using a pair of VR goggles to remotely pilot the craft, Eirik was never in any danger of getting too close to the moose. But the encounter was near the end of his flight with the battery dwindling, so the risk of an emergency landing followed by an annoyed moose trampling was very real. [Eirik Solheim via BoingBoing]
