A few months ago, we tried to fry your brains with a collection of dizzying animated San Francisco GIFs taken from a music video created by filmmakers Kevin Parry and Andrea Nesbitt. They were some of the best GIFs seen ’round these parts in ages, and if you wondered how they were created, the duo has finally revealed their secrets.
Not surprisingly, the ‘secret’ is actually just careful planning and execution.
As they explain in this video, Google Maps is an indispensable tool for planning out where to snap each shot so almost every photo has a view of the building you’re circling. And then it’s just some careful tweaking and polish in Photoshop to align all of the images, and then add a bit of motion blur to the foreground of each shot so it looks like you’re actually racing around the city.
