Developers Now Have Access To Google Maps On iOS


Hot on the heels of Google Maps for iOS comes news that Google is releasing the SDK for iOS as well. What that means is that other app developers now have the option of integrating Google’s vector-based maps into their own apps.

Nearly everything you can do in Google Maps for iOS now, like tilting and rotating, will be made available via third-party apps too. Developers will even be able to include traffic conditions with full control of camera positions in 3D space, as well as:

Any iOS app can also launch the Google Maps for iPhone app using a URL scheme. This allows Google Maps for iPhone to be launched to complete a search, show a map or Street View imagery, or to see and navigate walking, driving and transit directions easily.
