You Can Soon Test Drive New Motorola Software Ahead Of Official Releases

You know how it takes OMG like foreverz to get the newest version of Android on your phone? Motorola has a new plan that will get you its latest and greatest software long before you normally would. It’s called Test Drive.

See, normally, it takes a while for manufacturers to apply the newest Android update to their existing handsets. Once that’s done, it has to be sent to the carrier for testing, which can take months, depending on the where the phone lands in the carrier’s queue. So Motorola is going to be launching a beta testing program, basically.

Users who sign up will be able to test the newest versions of Android (with Motorola’s UI on top) before the official rollout. It’s going to debut with Android 4.2, and sign-ups will be announced soon. You can find out more about that program and whether your device is eligible at the Motorola Trade Up page. And we’ll let you know as soon as you can sign up for Test Drive and whether there are any regional restrictions. [Motorola]
