Apple’s new iMac is taking its time to arrive in stores. But if you’re bored of waiting, you can already get a dodgy Chinese fake of the sleek new computer — before anyone has managed to get their hands on the official product.
Truth be told it’s actually not too bad, if you can get past the name — Lavi — which sounds a lot like a pet name for a toilet. But beneath its metallic exterior lies a 1920×1080 display, 4GB of RAM, a choice of a 3.3GHz Sandy Bridge Intel Core i3 or a 2.9GHz Core i5 processor, and either a 500GB HDD or a 128GB SSD. And, umm, Windows 7 or 8. Not OS X. Obviously. In China, they’re selling for between $US500 and $US650.
But let’s face it, you’d be buying this for its looks — and it really does look like the new iMac. It’s actually 4mm thicker than the product it apes, but not that many people would probably ever notice. Take a closer look. [Shanzhaiben via MIC Gadget via Engagdet]
