Twitter Is Trying to Be Instagram By Adding Photo Filters

Instagram swept the photo sharing social network rug right under the feet of Facebook, Flickr and Twitter. Facebook decided to buy it and Twitter is trying to replicate it by adding photo filters of its own (Flickr is just… sad). The NYT reports that Twitter will “introduce filters for photos that will allow people to share altered images on Twitter” so Twitter users don’t even have to go to Instagram for pictures.

It does seem like a “too little, too late” move by Twitter but the act of sharing Instagram pictures on Twitter (which a lot of people do!) is a little awkward. If Twitter could bolster its Twitter photo service (which they should have done from the beginning), maybe people won’t even have to sign up for Instagram.

This also means that photo filters will never die. [New York Times]
