Fuuvi’s Nanoblocks are a smaller version of Lego that seem to have had some level of success in Japan. And while this isn’t the first time the blocks have crossed paths with cameras before, this is the first official Nanoblock digital snapper that can be completely customised with other building sets.
So if you can’t afford a Canon or Nikon DSLR, or have dreamed of shooting with a giant Hasselblad, you can kind of make it come true with enough extra blocks at your disposal.
You’ll have to learn to be happy with a crappy two-megapixel sensor, and you can forget about an LCD display for live previews; a makeshift optical viewfinder is the only tool you’ll have for framing your shots here. It does shoot video, but at NTSC quality, which is why Fuuvi has priced the Nanoblock camera at around $US55, putting it somewhere between a premium toy and a crappy piece of electronics.
