Anonymous Destroys Israel By Taking Down Hundreds Of Websites And Leaking Emails And Passwords

It looks like Anonymous followed up with its threat of digitally attacking Israel for taking military action in the Gaza strip. They've knocked down websites, deleted databases and have leaked email addresses and passwords. It's a whopping takedown.

The targets taken down include the Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs database and Bank of Jerusalem database, which have both been deleted. On top of that, Anon also took down over 600 sites with DDoS attacks and pasted over 2000 email addresses and passwords. Pretty rough.

Here's a statement from Anonymous explaining why they attacked Israel:

Greetings World

For far too long, Anonymous has stood by with the rest of the world and watched in despair the barbaric, brutal and despicable treatment of the Palestinian people in the so called "Occupied Territories" by the Israel defence Force. Like so many around the globe, we have felt helpless in the face of such implacable evil. And today's insane attack and threatened invasion of Gaza was more of the same.

But when the government of Israel publicly threatened to sever all Internet and other telecommunications into and out of Gaza they crossed a line in the sand. As the former dictator of Egypt Mubarack learned the hard way — we are ANONYMOUS and NO ONE shuts down the Internet on our watch. To the IDF and government of Israel we issue you this warning only once. Do NOT shut down the Internet into the "Occupied Territories", and cease and desist from your terror upon the innocent people of Palestine or you will know the full and unbridled wrath of Anonymous. And like all the other evil governments that have faced our rage, you will NOT survive it unscathed.

To the people of Gaza and the "Occupied Territories", know that Anonymous stands with you in this fight. We will do everything in our power to hinder the evil forces of the IDF arrayed against you. We will use all our resources to make certain you stay connected to the Internet and remain able to transmit your experiences to the world. As a start, we have put together the Anonymous Gaza Care Package — http://bit.ly/XH87C5 — which contains instructions in Arabic and English that can aid you in the event the Israel government makes good on it's threat to attempt to sever your Internet connection. It also contains useful information on evading IDF surveillance, and some basic first aid and other useful information. We will continue to expand and improve this document in the coming days, and we will transmit it to you by every means at our disposal. We encourage you to download this package, and to share it with your fellow Palestinians to the best of your ability.

We will be with you. No matter how dark it may seem, no matter how alone and abandoned you may feel — know that tens of thousands of us in Anonymous are with you and working tirelessly around the clock to bring you every aid and assistance that we can.

We Are Anonymous

We Are Everywhere

We Are Legion

We Do Not Forgive

We Do Not Forget

To the oppressors of the innocent Palestinian people, it is too late to EXPECT US

Meh, whether the they are in the right or wrong, anonymous always takes sides with the little guys. Who cares that the little guys democratically voted in a terrorist organisation (Hamas) to lead their people.

Election, supported by Israel. Hamas, partly founded by Israel. Election results, refused to be recognised by Israel.

Israel supported democracy in the region and in return, the region voted in a dictatoresque, violent, terrorist party. Right, definately should be recognised by israel. Its exactly the same as allowing Germany to vote for a new leader after WWII and them voting in a guy called Hitler Junior...

Why would any country in the world recognise a terrorist organisation as a legitimate party, let alone allow them to run a region or state...?!

Israel supported Hamas as a counter to the then nationalist movement led by Yasser Arafat in Palestine to weaken the region. Now that Hamas is ruling Gaza, it's kinda bit them on the arse.

We fully support democracy till it actually turns democratic? D:

Israel supported democracy until the party they no longer liked got voted in.

Just brilliant - so Israel kills civilians, bombs gaza and moves tanks; anon does nothing: Israel tries to take down the Internet- whoa! You crossed a line boy!
      What idiots.

So Anonymous stands with them huh? Really? What, while Hamas sets another rocket site in a residential area of Gaza? Or while Israel responds to try to stop terrorist attack on its citizens? Neither I suspect. This is nothing more than a disgusting rant from a bunch of vandals who aren't even big enough to show their faces.

Wait... After generations of conflict in the region, the "line in the sand" was threatening to cut off the internet?

I lol'd at this! It makes anon sound like a bunch of whiny kids who think Internet connection is a basic human right.

i read the other day that its is don't know if that's true or not

And so is the right to not get rained on by rockets nor bullets. Its just interesting that they decide to take note of it when one side decides to play info-warfare.

Yeah that was reported by Democracynow! that Israel is funding Hamas.

Maybe anon should have just blocked Israel's twitter account, that would have at least stopped us from getting those awkward tweets..

Becayse those tweets are just the absolute worst of the things Israel is doing, and if we couldn't see them then there wouldn't be a problem

i don't think hamas needs first aid tips or security tips from anon. this conflict has been going on for just a bit longer than the internet.
also anon might want to check there own security. mossad have never been shy about what to do with enemies in other countries

Exactly what I was thinking. I'd expect Anonymous's ranks to be quietly thinned out after this. They are complete idiots if they think they can piss off a country like Israel and get off scott free.

Yeah big scary Israel. Who without backing by the USA wouldn't exist, only got their country through threatened suicide and outgun everyone in their part of the world so drastically it's literally like the photos of kids throwing rocks at tanks.

You should have heard the frothing at the mouth on hack last week...the Israeli was saying its ok for us to kill people..to kill children, because some Israelis have to go to bomb shelters...that our killing is less than Kosovo so it is fine etc.

Both sides are bad...but Israel should not even be there.

          That's pretty much it.

Wow you two missed all the history lessons didn't you. your facts are quite, how shall i state it. lacking.
The american support of the state of israel was non existent till the 70's. but what would you know. your just a lame lazy guys who like to be fed with a spoon all the media crap you can.

    What a mess

Israel is really a pretty great country, they're just let down by these hard-line, militaristic right wing nut jobs that're stuck in power because people are afraid.
The Palestinians have the same problem, but it's because they're afraid of that hardline israeli government that Hamas gets as much support as it does.
There are so many innocent people caught in the middle here, but the Palestinian civilians always get the worst of it.

I'm a believer in the benefits of cyber-anarchism and supported Anonymous up to this point. I find it hard to believe that Anonymous's values align with a brutal non-democratic tribalistic regime that openly uses terrorism as the primary means of achieving it's goal. Any feelings of support I once had are now well and truly gone.

+1. It makes Anon seem like a bunch of left wing, leach brain, uni students.

Now if they could just do something about that pesky Nigeiran Prince who keeps emailing me.

Wouldn't this just provoke them.. To me it seems anon jumped into something that had nothing to do with them and just poked an already angry bear with a pointy stick..

It honestly has nothing to do with the US either... There's a superhero in all of us.

To everyone posting anti-Israel comments here, and also to Anon:

What would YOU do to stop the missiles that Hamas have been firing at Israel for over 12 years?

I've got an idea... recognise Palestine as a legitimate country and stop forcefully taking their land by building "settlements". Might just be a good start...

That is a comment indicative of someone who is completely ignorant of the realities of the situation. If you actually took the time to read the open charter of the terrorist organisation that currently rules Gaza known as Hamas, rather than hurl out 2 lined simplistic comments you'd perhaps begin to understand which side refuses to "recognize" the other's legitimacy.

Hamas has openly stated it will not stop 'resisting' against Israel until it no longer exists and they have every piece of land including Tel Aviv, Jerusalem , Haifa etc.

Giving them land does nothing, they want it all.,..what we all need is for their kids to be educated properly without a culture centered around the hatred of their neighbor.

Or it's indicative of someone that knows their history of the region, given that that description also applies to how modern Israel came into being: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Israel#British_Mandate_of_Palestine_.281920.E2.80.9348.29 .

          I'll just leave this here....
          http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Israeli%E2%80%93Palestinian_conflict#Fatalities_1948.E2.80.93present

http://youtu.be/-evIyrrjTTY - This is quite a good summary of Israel / Palestine / Canaan / the Levant

Agree with settlements part. Whilst not solely the cause of Palestinian outrage or the only irritant, the expansion of settlements in questionable areas has been stupid and contributes to the reasons that Hamas has significant support. We'd probably diverge on the actual sentiment on Israel though. I absolutely agree with their killing of Hamas commanders though and any operation that targets leadership that controls the apparatus for rocket attacks is legitimate.

Anonymous are wanktards full of undeserved hubris but if they're going to disrupt Israel 'digitally' (lol), because it is 'implaccably evil (kudos on the hyberbole), then it would only be right that they attack Hamas, Hezbollah, AQ, Afghanistan/Pakistan Talibs, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and any other 'implacably evil' political/religious entity that perpetuates violence and injustice.

Hey Anon, lets THINK bigger. Why aren't you guys taking on China? Or Russia? Both countries maintain legacy imperialist tendencies, engage in mischief making in their 'spheres of influence' and in China's case, engage in that Western sport of colonialism. Why are they different?

I should add that Russia and China are actively and deeply engaged in censorship, human rights abuses, brutal suppression of autonomous minded regions through force and collusion with dictatorships/autocratic regimes.

Now here's a real task for the effete, hoity toity mob at Anon. Bring down The Great Firewall of China. Let your gloriousness be the vanguard of revolutionary and democratic change in China.

@lachlan I'm not sure what that demonstrates other than to remind us that both of these sides have lost a great deal of people, many of which as the table indicates are at the hands of the very same organisation involved in the current escalation .. or are you perhaps simply suggesting that one should form their opinion about such a complex situation around a score board of deaths ? ... either way .. an argument constructed using your own words rather than a ctrl+v from Wikipedia would be more constructive

sorry anonymous, but here's one supporter you've lost...

Yeah, anon need to stay out of politics. They do not belong there.
