These Badly Recreated Animated Film Frames Are Actually Pretty Impressive

Here’s something that will bring a smile to your face. This Tumblr blog takes a still frame from a big-time, multimillion-dollar animated movie and tries to replicate it in 3D animation software Maya in under 30 minutes. The results are hilarious.

Some of them are closer to the original than others, but they all highlight the unbelievable detail that goes into creating high-quality animation movies from the likes of Pixar and Dreamworks. And these are actually really good re-creations considering they were supposedly done by a 16-year-old with a self-imposed 30-minute time frame. I sort of wish they had a whole movie with bootleg 30-minute versions of Shrek and Happy Feet.
