Tablets are a hot property right now, but which tablet should you buy? We’ve assembled the specifications for 53 different tablets so you can compare, including new Android devices and upcoming Windows 8 tablets from Microsoft, Asus, Acer, Samsung and others.
Update: The updated version of this table now contains all the awesome gadget gear we saw at IFA and beyond, including: the Archos Gen10 XS, Asus Transformer Infinity, Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, Kindle Fire HD, Toshiba AT330, Sony Vaio Duo 11, HP Envy X2, Dell XPS Duo 12, Dell XPS 10, Sony Xperia Tablet S, Samsung Activ, and the Lenovo Ideatab S2110. Phew!
Like the Super Phones list, this is intended as a living document that we’ll update as new tablets come to market. We’ve not mentioned the many Windows 7 slates available as that’s targeting a different market segment, and Windows 8 tablets are well on the way. As always, if you’ve spotted any errors or reckon we’ve missed an obvious candidate, let us know in the comments below.

IPad but not because IOS is better than Android but for the simple reason I have $$ tied up in audio/music apps which are unlikely to see the light of day on Android. AND I personally find the form factor more appropriate for my uses (I sure hope it doesn't go 16:9)
Huawei mediapad 10FHD for me when it gets here in Oz
Surface Pro. Hanging onto my old netbook until release.
Nexus 7?
An error I noticed - the Sony Duo 11 has Ivy Bridge CPUs, so it will run Win8, Not WinRT. If they do a Core i7 version, it will definitely be in the running for me, along with the Asus Taichi. I like the Duo 11 for its slider form factor and TrackPoint over Trackpad but the Taichi''s advantage is that the laptop screen isn't touch-enabled, so it will stay nice and clean. Taichi will also have built in GPS which will be handy for navigation when cruising, although a USB or Bluetooth receiver will not be a great burden if the Sony stacks up well enough. I will also want to see which screen res makes the best sense for the form factor.

The Lenovo Thinkpad Tablet is ICS OTA. I've had mine updated for 3 months
You should probably update this article to include the Nexus 7.
Surface pro or Samsung hybrid...probably hybrid
So the article has been updated and it STILL doesn't include the Nexus 7.
Come on. It's one of the best (if not THE best) 7" tablet on the market right now and it's not on your list. It's also the only tablet to be running Jelly Bean, apart from the Ativ and Xperia Tablet S. Make it happen Gizmodo, put it in the list.
Sorry I missed that one Michael. I'll put the Nexus in there now. Can't believe I missed something so awesome.
One of the windows 8 tablets which have good Specs.
Surface seems good but the 3 month extra wait on the Pro version is too much, so Maybe the Samsung or the Asus.
Quite possibly, depending on the price, the iPad Mini.. if it's actually released in October.
The Sony Duo 11 still has the wrong OS attached to it.
I will wait until there's an Android table which equal or greater resolution than an iPad to get a tablet.
I just nabbed the Galaxy Note 10.1. Love the split screen, S Pen and brilliant multi-tasking UI that it has. 2Gb RAM never fills up either :)
Never EVER buying a tablet...ever.
