Watch: Augmented Reality T-Shirt Will Have Your Chest Bursting In Excitement… Literally

Augmented Reality T-shirts have come along way since the days of QR codes. Why settle for prosthetics or, say, actual chest-bursting death, when a simple app, a shirt and a special image can give you all the old school goriness without a trip to the costume department / local emergency room?

The app uses the Unity game engine to provide its entertaining display and as you can see from the video, it works well and looks just as terrifying as you’d expect. It was put together by a Swedish developer called Fingerfunk (which I initially misread as something far worse) — it has a page dedicated to the product here.

If you’d like to have a little alien buddy exploding from your solar plexus, all you need to do is grab the free “Chest Burster” app, available for iOS and Android devices. You’ll also need the marker image, which looks a lot like this.

The app has good reviews on both the App Store and Google Play, so I’d say it’s a solid bet it works as advertised.
