This Treehouse Tenement Houses 76 Birds And One Human

Birds are awesome. From a distance. Up close they are terrifying, startling creatures that will crap on you and swoop unexpectedly into your face, making you scramble to hit the deck. Now an avian slumlord has created a bird tenement capable of containing 76 birds — and one strange human — at a time.

Created by a designer called Nendo for the Momofuku Ando Center, a nature preserve in Japan’s Komoro City, the hut doubles as a treehouse so the old ladies from the neighbourhood can take a break from disrupting the footpath with their pigeon-feeding and climb up to the human-sized home for birds. The crow flat accommodates both winged creatures and those with arms and legs, with 76 perches for birds and one giant hole for a person to crawl through and scream for help. [Design Boom]
