Telstra 4G: Double The 4G Coverage Of Other Networks

Telstra 4G provides typical 4G download speeds of 2Mbps to 40Mbps&#8224 across an area that is more than double any other Australian 4G network. Telstra 4G devices, like the iPhone 5, also seamlessly operate across Telstra’s entire coverage footprint. So if you happen to go outside a 4G coverage area, you’ll automatically switch to leading 3G speeds.

Telstra 4G is available in more than 100 metropolitan and regional centres, including all capital cities. It currently covers more than 40% of the population and is expanding fast with more than 1,000 4G enabled sites planned to be added to the network over the next 10 months. When all new sites are live, Telstra’s 4G service will reach approximately two thirds of the Australian population.

&#8224Typical download speeds of 2Mbps to 40Mbps are available in all capital CBDs, (meaning within 5km from GPO), associated airports and selected regional locations (meaning 3km from regional town centre).

Outside these areas 4G capable devices will automatically switch over to Telstra’s advanced High Speed Packet Access or HSPA enabled 3G network and speeds will be less.

Actual speeds vary due to factors such as location, distance from the base station, local terrain, user numbers, hardware and software configuration and download source/upload destination.
