Though it’s not yet been officially announced, Panasonic has posted — accidentally or otherwise — a video of its new Lumix GH3 micro four thirds camera onto YouTube. And things look promising.
With the old GH2 a much-loved camera, its successor has plenty to live up to. Still, this clip shows off some of the camera’s new specs, and they don’t disappoint. In particular, the video seems to confirms the presence of a 16-megapixel sensor, high-definition filming at up to 72Mbps, a new version of Panasonic’s Venus Engine processor, and a splash- and dust-proof magnesium alloy.
Elsewhere, there’s a flip-out LCD — much like the GH2’s — and an f/2.8 12-35mm lens attached. The GH2 was available with either a 14-42mm or 14-140mm lens in the past, so it’s not obvious that the lens option is the final word. While it’s not clear when Panasonic plans to officially announce the new camera, chances are that it will happen at the upcoming Photokina show.
