Jony Ive Teams Up With Leica To Design One-Off M-Series Camera

Everything that Jony Ive touches seem to turn to gold, so it will come as good news to rich photographers everywhere that he's teaming up with Leica to design a super-limited edition of the M-series camera.

On the back of last night's M launch, Leica boss Dr Andreas Kaufmann revealed that he is to work with Ive on a limited edition version of the camera. In fact, it's going to be so limited that only one unit will ever be produced.

The single camera will be auctioned off for charity. With the bog-standard Leica M expected to retail for around $US7000, well-off Ive fanboys had better prime their chequebooks for what could be an incredibly expensive purchase. [Peta Pixel]

Crikey, he better do a better than Marc Newson did with the Pentax K-01. You're just not prepared for how ugly that thing is 'till you see one for yourself. Ugly and pointless.

Am I missing something? Isnt this camera already beautiful? Will Jonee be building the body from scratch or will he just be adding bits. Perhaps he could turn it into something as pretentious as the Hasselblad/Sony.

Maybe that's what photography needs......More gold and wood grain in cameras to let people know it's special
