Listen To The Same Songs Curiosity Wakes Up To On Mars

Every morning, when Curiosity opens her amazing eyes, she plays a motivating, inspiring song to start the new sol, or martian day. Each track is delightful, and even though you're on Earth, they're wonderful ways to kickstart yourself out of bed.

Here's the full list from the JPL, and a Spotify playlist so you can rock out with the rover:

Sol 1: Lovin' Every Minute of It - Loverboy Sol 2: Good Morning Good Morning - The Beatles Sol 3: Good Morning (from Singin' in the Rain) - Gene Kelly/Debbie Reynolds/Donald O'Connor Sol 4: Walking on Sunshine - Katrina & the Waves

Sol 5: Ride of the Valkyries - Richard Wagner

Sol 6: Got the Time - Anthrax, Echelon - 30 Seconds to Mars

Sol 7: Break on Through to the Other Side - The Doors, I Got My Mind Set on You -George Harrison

Sol 8: Star Wars (Main Theme) - John Williams & The London Symphony Orchestra

Sol 9: Wake Up Little Susie - Simon & Garfunkel

Sol 10: Come Fly With Me - Frank Sinatra

Sol 11: Cosmic Love - Florence and the Machine, Fur Elise -Twinkle Twinkle Little Star (medley)

Sol 12: When You Wish Upon a Star - Louis Armstrong

Sol 13: Killer Queen - Queen

Sol 14: Star Trek Theme - Alexander Courage

Sol 15: The Twist- Chubby Checker

Of course, not every song is included on Spotify, in which case we searched for a close alternative, which explains the Everly Brothers version of "Wake Up Little Susie", rather than Simon & Garfunkel's and a symphony playing "Good Morning", rather than the Beatles. Regardless, it's great to know that Curiosity (read: her awesome handlers) have mostly lovely, varied taste in tunes. [JPL]

Its good for charity.... Why the hell does it have to be him?

He seems to have a real passion for promoting science to kids. Which I think is a good thing.

So.....tell me again why a rover needs music first thing in the morning?

Maybe we should be calling it "Marvin the Paranoid Android". . . .

And I'm not seeing "Life on Mars" in the play list haha

First thing I thought of was this.....
