While other manufacturers spew out Windows 8 hybrids, Acer is going against the tide with its new Aspire S7 ultrabook. The new 11-inch laptop is the apparent semi-successor to the Aspire S5, and it looks like it could be a winner.
The new Aspire S7 has an 11-inch 1366×768 touchscreen (the same resolution as the 11-inch MacBook Air) with Gorilla Glass, packs Intel Core i5 or i7 processors, and HDMI and USB 3.0 ports. It’s unclear what the RAM options are, but it’s probably safe to assume it will be the standard 4GB/8GB model of current gen ultrabooks.
We don’t have pricing information yet, but Acer is obviously jumping on the “make our best stuff touchscreens” end of the bus. The Aspire S7 is slim, looks beautiful and well-made, going by The Verge’s impressions. And it doesn’t have the annoying and worrying rear mechanised dock connector of the Aspire S5.
We’ll have more details for you as they become available. [The Verge]
