The E.T. Anniversary Edition Blu-ray Packaging Is Completely Ridiculous And Awesome

It’s been 30 years since the world’s most loveable extra-terrestrial made his debut on the silver screen, and to celebrate the anniversary the film is being released on Blu-ray with what has to be some of the most over-the-top and brilliant re-packaging ever.

It seems the film studios have finally found the perfect solution to combating the online distribution and sharing of their films. They simply make up the lost revenue with asininely over-elaborate special/limited/anniversary/collectors editions of films that have been released countless times before on other mediums.

But this set seems to go above and beyond the call of duty by playing snippets of John Williams’ soundtrack when opened, complete with a miniature E.T. that pops out below. Totally worth $US140, and it of course includes all the versions of the films that have been released and re-released to date. [Amazon via Nerd Approved via Bleeding Cool]
