Samsung’s EX2F Compact Camera Has A Wonderfully Wide Aperture

When Sony announced its RX100 pro compact last month, we ogled over the wide f/1.8 aperture, made possible by its spacious one-inch sensor. But Samsung just raised the stakes a little with its EX2F, which somehow manages a f/1.4 aperture combined with only a 1/1.7-inch sensor (that’s the same-sized sensor as the S100!)

In addition to a 12.4-megapixel CMOS Sensor, the EX2F has a 24mm lens, full manual controls, a 3-inch AMOLED display, RAW support, Wi-Fi and the ability to shoot 1080p video at 30fps. It’s even lighter than its predecessor, the EX-1 (294g vs 356g). Expect to see this premium compact in stores sometime around August for around $600. [Samsung]
