NASA’s Photograph Of London From Space Is Jaw-Droppingly Pretty

London is the crown jewel of the UK, and that has never been more evident than in this photo captured by NASA from the Suomi NPP satellite.

The image was captured over Great Britain and France in March and it shows the major cities of both countries bathed in golden light with spaghetti-like strands of gold stretching off in all directions.

Here’s what NASA had to say about how it captured the amazing imagery:

The image was acquired by the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) on Suomi NPP, which includes a “day-night band” similar to images collected by the Operational Linescan System (OLS) flown on U.S. Defense Meterological Satellite Program (DMSP) satellites.
The day-night band observes light in a range of wavelengths from green to near-infrared, and uses light intensification to enable the detection of dim signals
