Fitmodo: Kinect Gets Sporty With PlayFit

Move Over Wii Fit, Xbox 360 and the Kinect will take the fitness tracking thing from here.

PlayFit is the new fitness tracker from Microsoft that hooks into your existing Xbox games and tracks everything to do with what you’re burning (unless it’s your kitchen).

PlayFit is an nice looking app that analyses and records the calories you’ve burned on a daily, weekly and monthly basis and puts you head-to-head with friends so you can see just how fat you really are. I mean, compare yourself.

There are avatar awards tied into your training schedule, too.

Games already that support Kinect PlayFit include:

• Big League Sports
• Dance Central 2
• Deepak Chopra’s Leela
• Kinect: Disneyland Adventures
• Kinect Sports: Season Two
• Kinect Star Wars
• Let’s Cheer
• Nike+ Kinect Training
• Sesame Street: Once Upon A Monster
• Your Shape: Fitness Evolved 2012

That’s a good looking list, especially when you take into account the upcoming Nike+ game is in there. If you’re the owner of a Nike FuelBand (tell me where you got it) and/or a Nike+ Fuel Watch then you’ll be able to stick all those precious stats into the the Nike+ tracking system and hopefully pull them back down to your Xbox for a nice visualisation of your progress.

You can download PlayFit from Kinect Central now.

Is this the perfect piece of kit for motion gaming to make a difference in fitness? Would you use it? [Major Nelson]
