Absurdly Ornate iPad Dock Is Fit For A Czar

The iPad may be known for its sleek design, but that doesn’t mean you can’t shake things up a bit with a super gaudy, overly detailed dock.

Bavarian photographer Georg Dinkel is the man behind this crazy, vaguely Eastern European conversation piece, which he refers to as the “TonSchrein” or “Sound Shrine” in English. The whole thing is moulded out of a polymer clay and coated in metallic paint. Even with all its attention to detail and shininess, the TonSchrein still gives you the same kind of functionality you’d expect from simplier dock, including a 2.1 speaker sound system within its gem-encrusted shell.

The TonSchrein was a personal project, so it’s not for sale, but even if you did want it, chances are it wouldn’t match your decor. Instead, you’ll just have to settle for observing it from afar. [Georg Dinkel via Craziest Gadgets]
