Raspberry Pi Ordering Restrictions Lifted

The $41 computer that is the Raspberry Pi is the tiny little board of your dreams, and now you can own your own legion of Pis after the organisation behind the small wonder lifted the one per customer limit it had imposed since the device first went on sale.

The demand was so high for the Raspberry Pi Model B board that the devices sold out in minutes when they first went on sale last year, with the wait list blowing out to months on end.

As of yesterday, though, you can buy as many as you want!

Liz from the Raspberry Pi Foundation explains:

Up until now, we’ve had to restrict purchases of the Raspberry Pi to one per customer because the demand has been (and continues to be) so high. Both of our manufacturing partners have been working at building capacity so you we can lift that limit – right now, 4000 Raspberry Pis are being made every day. As of this morning, you’ll be able to buy as many Raspberry Pis as you want from both RS Components and element14/Premier Farnell.

This is good news, because it means the supply chain will (hopefully) be quicker at getting a delicious piece of Pi round my way. [Raspberry Pi blog]
