Apple’s Hardware Chief Bob Mansfield To Retire

Bob Mansfield is retiring. You may remember him from such companies as Apple, where he led the Mac and iPod development before helping iPad hardware design for the last 13 years.

Mansfield has been a staple in product videos and keynote events talking about Apple’s new hardware designs and he’ll likely be missed in Cupertino.

Tim Cook says of Mansfield:

Bob has been an instrumental part of our executive team, leading the hardware engineering organisation and overseeing the team that has delivered dozens of breakthrough products over the years. We are very sad to have him leave and hope he enjoys every day of his retirement.

Hardware at Apple will soon be head up by Dan Riccio.
