This Insanely Detailed Model Used To Plot Bin Laden’s Death Took Six Weeks To Build

This is the once-classified model of Osama Bin Laden’s compound — the one used to plan the US Navy SEAL raid against the terrorist leader. From a distance, this model could be a piece you’d see in a museum, but in the details you’ll see the painstaking work that went into the tool that helped kill the devil lying inside.

Built by the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, the model is an exact 1:84 scale replica of the compound bin Laden lived in for the last six years of his life. There’s no throwaway: everything in the model was once on the compound. It took six weeks to build and is based on the NGIA’s sophisticated satellite imaging technology as well as information from sources on the ground. [New York Daily News]
