This isn’t a Kickstarter post. This is a post about Tentacle Bento, the card game that allows players to “assume the role of tentacle monsters disguised as buxom students at an all-girl’s school in Japan”.
The object of the game: to befriend as many popular teen girls as possible, and to “get your slimy tentacles on as many of the students as you can before time runs out”.
It had been a Kickstarter project that raised more than twice its target sum of $US13,000 in just one week — that is, until it was abruptly canned by the crowdsourced funding platform late last night.
To be fair, it could be argued that the game violates Kickstarter’s policy against “pornographic material”. Another argument, though, would be that Tentacle Bento is a set of illustrated playing cards meant as porn parody, not full blown (heh…) smut.
Honestly, I’m not sure whether I agree with Kickstarter’s choice to pull the project. Obscenity charges and first amendment violations are already freighted subjects; receiving crowdsourced support on a web-based platform only complicates the issue.
