Panasonic has officially begun testing the future of hair care with its robotic shampooer that’s now available for the public to try at select salons in Japan. The company is hoping to gain important customer feedback before it commercialises the machine, and to refine its three laws of robotic stylists.
Using 24 articulated artificial fingers the robot first ‘feels’ the customer’s head to determine its size and shape, and then applies a pre-lathered shampoo before giving the head a thorough scrubbing. The robot is also able to automatically rinse the hair, apply a conditioner during a massaging mode, and even blow dry it off at the end.
